FRANCO
Franco was born on October 14, 2024, as a twin to his beloved brother Emilio. From the moment he entered this world, Franco’s journey has been filled with remarkable strength, courage, and determination. His arrival, although unexpected, has shown us just how resilient a young life can be.
Shortly after his birth, Franco was diagnosed with congenital heart disease, confronting him with several serious challenges. He was found to have aortic arch hypoplasia, a ventricular septal defect (VSD), a size discrepancy between his left and right ventricles, hypoplastic aortic and mitral valves, and complete heart block. The gravity of these conditions has made it exceptionally difficult for his heart to function, necessitating immediate, life-saving intervention.
When Franco was just three days old, he underwent open-heart surgery at the renowned Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. This critical procedure was a significant step towards addressing his complex heart issues, but sadly, this was just the beginning of his fight. After a brief time at home, filled with love and hope, Franco faced another hurdle—he was readmitted to the hospital for a valvuloplasty to help improve blood flow through his heart. Tragically, this procedure led to a complication, plunging him into complete heart block, which required pacing wires to regulate his heartbeat.
Through it all, Franco’s spirit has remained remarkably strong. His resilience shines brightly, even in the face of such adversity. Each day, he continues to surprise and inspire his dedicated medical team, who are in awe of his determination to fight through these challenging circumstances.
Currently, Franco is still in the hospital, receiving the ongoing care he needs. His family is filled with hope as they eagerly await the day when he can come home, where he will be surrounded by their unwavering love and warmth. Franco’s story is one of incredible bravery and deep love, and his early strength is a tribute to the wonderful person he is becoming. While his journey is far from over, his family stands proudly by his side, grateful for every small victory and hopeful for a bright future ahead.
